The Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center invites you to join a progressive and growing multi-campus and multi-disciplinary organization focusing on women's health and sex and gender-based medicine.

Our Mission

Because differences matter, the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health is dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls through:

  • Research by supporting scientific discoveries unique to women's health and particularly those that distinguish sex and gender difference;
  • Education by advancing the knowledge of health care professionals through evidence-based resources that lead to more personalized medicine;
  • Outreach by connecting with communities to share knowledge, resources, and solutions.

Professional Affiliate Program Benefits

  • Network with fellow TTUHSC/TTU/ASU faculty of all disciplines
  • Apply for exclusive seed grants by the Institute (applicants for these funds must be affiliate members)
  • Apply for inclusion in our Speakers Bureau for external speaking opportunities with potential stipend and national recognition
  • List your affiliate membership and connection to the Institute on your CV and credits
  • Access innovative Sex and Gender Health resources
  • Potential promotion of research in the Institute's bi-annual IMPACT Report

Membership Responsibilities

Members may be asked to serve the Institute in various activities such as:

  • Reviewing slide sets for sexandgenderhealth.org
  • Participating in a speaker's bureau
  • Serving on a symposium committee
  • Serving on an outreach activity committee
  • Reviewing membership requests
  • Advising the Institute
  • Enhancing the public relations/marketing of the Institute
  • Other requests as needed by each campus

These free events feature experts from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and other local health organizations who present the latest in Sex and Gender Specific Health to a lay audience.
